Specializing in Decluttering, Downsizing, Pre-Move Purge & Prep, and Creating Systems That Work For You.
Some people know exactly what needs to be done, and some people just know "something needs to be done" and I will make you successful either way. I work in a very caring and practical way to help you see results the very first time we work together. I focus on making your living space work Better for you, look attractive and also easy to maintain. Some organizers say they "love to organize", but I love to help others through decluttering and organizing; there is a difference.
Clutter happens for a reason, whether it’s a little pile here and a little pile there, or your piles have blended together into one huge room sized pile. The good news is that you can overcome it and live more comfortably in your home by decluttering. The first step is to try to identify why you have excessive clutter. Does there seem to be too little space or time to manage your possessions? Do you feel guilty letting things go of things, or so overwhelmed that you don’t know where to start? Are their systems in place that work against you instead of for you? After that, you and I will identify your goals, devise a plan and then jump right in. Decluttering is the first step in all areas of home organization. Many of my clients are thrilled during the first session in how quickly their home starts to look better when we start decluttering. I can see the weight lift off their shoulders, their motivation grow and their overall outlook improve. Let me help you feel the same by helping you declutter your space and start down the path to living in a more peaceful, efficient and enjoyable home.
Pre-Move Purge & Prep
Whether you are moving across town or across the country, upsizing or downsizing, evaluating your possessions to determine what is worthy of your efforts to move them from one home to another should begin waaaay before you actually start packing. I have seen the results of people who “panic pack”, which is dumping everything into a box because the movers are “all of a sudden” coming the next day, or you just never got to decluttering before the packers come and it all gets boxed up because it’s too late to even deal with it. The result is unwanted, unused, unloved, and forgotten things that have lived in basements, garages, storage sheds and behind closed doors and drawers, are all moving along with you, whether you really want them to or not. Some boxes are never even opened before it’s time for the next move! Don’t be a panic packer!!! The day you even start thinking of moving, no matter how far down the road (ha ha pun intended), you should start a pre-move purge, because procrastination in doing so will cost you more than just the money to move stuff that literally and figuratively weighs you down, but also the frustration/annoyance of figuring out what to do with it in your new home. I will help you identify those items that you no longer need, use, or cherish and help you pass them on to someone who would love to have them.
People downsize for many different reasons whether they are moving into a smaller place to enjoy retirement, have become empty nesters with too much space, combining or dividing household goods through marriage or divorce, preparing their parents to move into assisted living or even settling their loved one’s estate. All these transitions take careful thought and consideration into what you keep and what you let go of, not to mention who gets what! I will help you manage your possessions and help you get from point “A” to point “B” in the most efficient way possible through creating a detailed plan, careful consideration of your items, honoring your new space requirements, keeping communication going between all parties involved in the process and following your desired timeline. Downsizing is tougher than you think and takes longer than you think, so please reach out and let me help you start the process as soon as you can.
If your home doesn’t function as smoothly as you’d like it to, you might not have the perfect systems in place for you. There is no “one size fit’s all” system of organization. Each person is unique in their needs and the way their brain processes information and I will help you discover the best system for you. I’ve helped people design/redesign home office spaces, create at home learning spaces for their family, and reorganize countless spaces to maximize efficiency. Oftentimes, having a fresh set of eyes can identify the trouble spots and find solutions to make your space work for you and not against you. I will work with you and your family to design a system that everyone can participate in and be successful. When you have the right system in place, you will find that your day flows smoother, frustrations disappear, and you and your family can live more comfortably in your home.
Before and After
Here are some before and after pictures from over the years, and I am proud of the work that each and every one of my clients have done. Their reasons and goals are all different, but the one thing they have in common is; they got started.
Helping you live Better
The word "Better" was carefully chosen for my business name because no matter your starting point on your project, I want to help you make your home a Better place to live.
I've always been passionate about helping people throughout my life, from 11 years as a Girl Scout Leader for my three daughters, to over a decade of running a holiday program for veterans. When you hire me for your decluttering and organizing needs, you not only get my hands to help you, but also my heart.
I have helped clients declutter spare bedrooms to turn into home offices, regain usable living space throughout entire levels of homes, and all size projects in between. I've also worked in crawl spaces, storage rooms and garages, so whatever and wherever you need to declutter and organize, I am ready to help!
Decluttering and organizing help your home both look and function better, but there are some other benefits that you might not think of like: more time with family, less stress and anxiety, a sense of accomplishment, and an overall happier outlook.
You are the reason I started my business. You will be treated in a kind and understanding way with the up most level of respect. You will feel like a load has been lifted off your shoulders. You will live Better and feel Better in your home.
Hopefully by now, you can see that I am passionate about what I do. This isn't just a business for me, it's a quest to help people and their relationship with their possessions; no matter their motivation or size of their project. Take care!
I am so thankful that my clients allow me into their homes and trust me with their personal possessions. These are some of their stories, kind words, and recommendations they wanted to share with you.
